Paul Tury making paper in his art studio

Paul Tury Is a hand papermaker and artist living and working in Kitty Hawk, NC.

He has a BFA  in painting and printmaking from JMU and is an award-winning graphic designer and illustrator. He is currently the creative director for a national non-profit.

His artistic passion is making handmade paper in his home studio from commercially available and natural sources.
These papers are made out of cotton, abaca, hemp, recycled paper, recycled clothing and natural items found around him such as flowers, seaweed, herbs and other plants. He frequently dyes the paper pulp in a variety of bright colors which complement and contrast with the natural colors of his raw materials creating a wide spectrum of colors, shades and textures.   He then uses this paper to build 3-D art works small and large. Always trying to push the boundaries of what paper can do.
